who's getting snow?
It's currently pounding down here. Actually quite a welcome change after
the heavy freezing rain of earlier. There are 1 inch icicles hanging off of all the buds, some of these are pretty advanced too. I sprayed copper on all the maples as a precaution yesterday, hopefully it will help a little. -- Gardening in Lower Normandy |

We had a scattering overnight which has disappeared and then a few flakes this morning. Our worst enemy at the moment is a bitter easterly which is blowing fiercely. But on the lunchtime news, Jersey and Guernsey airports are shut with snow and they've had a blizzard which is expected to continue for quite a while yet. -- Sacha www.hillhousenursery.com South Devon www.helpforheroes.org.uk |

Here at the sunny end of Swansea bay it has just started to let loose a few flakes of snow, but that may be warmer than the icy wind we have had all morning. really nice to be working out in. I kept expecting to see a couple of Brass monkeys, but the birds seem to be enjoying it. David |

David Well our snow flurries lasted about 10 mins, but there is still quite a healthy breeze blowing and the temp is still at freezing point, so it feels sub Arctic and I've had to work outside for about 3 hours, I now feel a definite kinship with the Brass monkeys. David, 'Brass Monkeys' had nothing to do with gardening ;-)

snip It still is snowing in Alderney, as the puffin webcam shows: 'Alderney Puffin Cam' (http://tinyurl.com/36nn7e8) It's so close to France it's probably getting their snow! -- Sacha www.hillhousenursery.com South Devon www.helpforheroes.org.uk |

I don't know who's snow it is, but I love the idea, and have bookmarked it, thanks! Just had dog out for his last walkies, the trees are making spooky sounds, crackling ice in the wind. There's a thick layer of ice over everything, the bay tree is spread out and about half its normal height. Nasty out there. -- Gardening in Lower Normandy |

My son sent me a photo of the lane close to his house in Grouville. It's full of snow and the hedges are invisible. I haven't seen snow like that in Jersey since the early 70s, when he was a toddler! Naturally, concerns are for the Jersey Royals which will be held back big time by this, if they don't rot off in the snow melt. This is a bad start to the year for growers. -- Sacha www.hillhousenursery.com South Devon www.helpforheroes.org.uk |

this morning there was just a very light breeze, yet the forecasters keep saying we're having gales. Admittedly the wind has picked up slightly during the day to a gentle breeze, but a gale? No way! Only just breezy here too, though it is a nasty north-east wind. Seems to have gone back to a mixture of sleet and snow here, I'm watching the ice stalactites growing off the Cornus contraversa branches outside my office window. Yuk. But at least I don't have to drive anywhere. -- Gardening in Lower Normandy |

Snow and ice pellets on and off since last night. Covers the ground then clears away, then more comes. The temperature see saws between +2 and -2, sometimes over a very short time. At the moment there is snow on the grass but not on the road. Outside temperature is -1.6C. Not looking good for the rest of the week either. Met Office has yellow snow warnings until the middle of Thursday for East Anglia. We are predicted to be getting the worst of it, I think, because the wind is coming in from the NE, although the worst weather is over the channel at the moment according to the radar.
