Default Miles of mowing

According to today's Country Life a British man walks 224 miles behind
a lawnmower during his lifetime! Bet that's cheered you all up!

Well, if that's not a good enough excuse to get ride-on mower, I don't
know what is.

I have always wanted one, when my father in law died we inherited one but I
was gutted when I discovered it wouldn't fit through any of the gateways,
its on permanent loan to my mother.
It even had little headlights - sigh!

Aaaaaah! So sad about you and your little ride-on mower. My children
used to fight to drive mine. Then they fought not to have to! ;-)

Not a lot really
20 years is 1.12 miles a year, so cutting 20 times a year give you
around 480 yards a cut.
So a 18 inch cut (not allowing for overlap) would give you a lawn of
around 30f by 90ft.
When I was teaching Mobility to visually impaired people I used to walk
well over 1000 miles a year (5 miles a day, 5 days a week 25 x 4 weeks
is 100 miles a month) and many days were well over 5 miles.
I reckon that every time I cut all my grass here I walk a good country
mile, and that's with a 30 inch cut.

The council have been and mowed the 'grass' verges today. The grass
looked really dead before they did it and you couldn't tell they'd
been.

I feel like the 224 miles have been walked every time I mow the lawns. It
is so boring, seems to take a lifetime in its self. In fact, I think
weeding is more interesting than cutting grass.
