Default Onion Sets

Clearing out the shed, I found half a dozen onion
sets. Remembered last year that they fell, and these
must have rolled and hidden. Going to plant them to
see what happens, but just wondering what sort of live
set have?

I've managed to successfully grow packets of sets that are over a year
old before, with about 50% success rate. You have to be moderately
careful to make sure you throw away the crappy ones, I think (to stop
any mould and stuff spreading to the healthy ones whilst growing)
