Not quite the same thing but - we have/had a lot of Nerines growing beside our drive. Our house is next to the church and was the vicarage at one time. Last year, I went shopping - blaze of Nerines in the drive beds - returned home and several children were walking down the lane with a handful of Nerines. Guess what - not one of ours remained. Later, I went to the churchyard and several graves had Nerines on them.......I don't know if they were ours, of course but it tamed my indignation at least a little! Raymond's first wife's grave has snowdrops from our garden planted in the turf and then I put flowers from the garden into the vase from time to time. -- Sacha www.hillhousenursery.co.uk South Devon (remove the 'x' to email me) |

The message
from "Franz Heymann" contains these words: There's a thought then - dessicated by osmosis and freeze-dried flowers. Not quite. When the flowers actually freeze, the osmotic motion of the water will cease. But the freeze-dry process will continue. -- Rusty Hinge http://www.users.zetnet.co.uk/hi-fi/tqt.htm Dark thoughts about the Wumpus concerto played with piano, iron bar and two sledge hammers. is there any thing i can use to stop the water in the flower vases from freezing at a grave. All the solutions Ive thoiught of would kill the flowers. Thanks in advance Dave Why would you want to? Even if you could prevent it, the freezing temps will kill the flowers anyway. -- Tumbleweed My mother had the same problem and instead put small pots of winter pansies and cyclamen on the family graves... in spring she replaces them with pots of mini spring bulbs.
