Because, uncivilized beast that he is, he likes *cold* tea as
well as hot, and until he goes to bed, it's uncertain how much of
the tea in the pot is surplus. And when bedtime rolls around,
he's too tired and sleepy to deal with it.

Additionally, he's been known to start the day with a cuppa cold
tea while the water boiled for a fresh pot.

So he's NOT throwing it out then and it was just something to keep the
thread going?

The kettle was about to boil.....

Tea drinkers are all poured out of the same pot.
