We have spent years trying to find out how slugs get into our kitchen

They might actually be still in your kitchen during the day, in a nice safe

There was an interesting article a couple of years ago in New Scientist
about an Australian biologist who kept slugs and snails in his bathroom to
eat the mould and bacteria that grew in the damp spots. His wife wasn't too
impressed.

I have! I have! I think they are lurking in the wood work behind the
sink. I'm not ripping the kitchen units out for something that only
appears, when normally I am asleep.
