Default Lupins

I need some help!

This year I have some Lupins in my garden, but they have hardly had chance to flower before the leaves are stripped and just the stalks are left, and looking pretty unsightly. I have notice these green thingys on the stalks, would it be these that are eating away or could it be ants as I have notice an ants nest nearby?

Any help advice would be greatfully received.

Thanks Perc

It must be the greenfly or slugs/snails; AFAIK ants don't eat Lupins.
The same thing happened to me a couple of years ago: the greenfly
infestation was intensive. I solved the problem by spraying with soap
based insecticide; actually I also occasionally used diluted washing up
liquid.

Good luck, Joe

Hi Percy,
I have caught a number of snail making their way up to my lupins and now use
a very effective child & cat-friendly slug repellant. No more slugs!
