Default To build a bonfire

Not a Jack London question.

My sweet peeper crop was wiped out by earwigs this year and I decided not to
compost the dead plants at the end of the season. I want to burn them as
they are infested. Trouble is, the only site I have for a small fire is me
vegetable plot. Will the heat or resultant ashes effect the quality of the
underlying topsoil.

TIA

Gordon
