Nutrafin CO2 system
Hello everyone,
Does anyone out there have a nutrafin CO2 system ? What EXACTLY are in the CO2 stabilizer and CO2 activator packets? Any feed back as to weather this system is good or bad, please reply. Thanks Carmine |

Yeast and baking soda. It's good for tanks when you want the assurance that you won't blow up a tank of yeast and sugar all over your house. I've gotten good use out of mine, but if I had to go again, I'd skip it. It's just been too easy to do the exact same thing with a soda bottle and homemade diffuser. -- Ross Vandegrift A Pope has a Water Cannon. It is a Water Cannon. He fires Holy-Water from it. I've got just the diffuser/bubble counter, and I like it a lot. You can easily see that CO2 is being dissolved into the tank, as the bubbles get much smaller as they work toward the top of the diffuser. I'd recommend just get the diffuser by itself (petsolutions item number 15517698), and use a yeast-in-a-bottle DIY CO2 with it. -- www.ericschreiber.com |

I have the same one, and I have stopped using the canister and now use my
own bottle. It's best just to buy the diffusor. "Eric Schreiber" wrote in message ... "Carmine J. Ventura JR" wrote: Does anyone out there have a nutrafin CO2 system ? I understand yeast, but how does the baking soda help prevention of excess
pressure build up? linda "Ross Vandegrift" wrote in message m... In article , Carmine J. Ventura JR wrote: Does anyone out there have a nutrafin CO2 system ? I don't think the baking soda is meant to do that. I think it's to help keep
your PH stable by adding carbonate to your water. "linda mar" wrote in message ... A yeast reactors limiting factor is the level of alcohol that yeast can handle until it is exhausted. The baking soda buffers the water to prevent a large swing in PH inside the yeast reactor. I found that if you visit a local wine shop or brewing shop you can find alcohol resistant yeast that is much better than brewers yeast that is found in the store. The trick is to catch your yeast reactor before it has reached the level that the yeast is "dead" from alcohol poisoning. Remove the old water retaining the yeast culture at the bottom of the bottle... add clean water, sugar, baking soda and the yeast reactor is ready for another 1-2 months. BTW unless you do something to limit the amount of C02 injected in your tank, ie add a valve, it is unlikely that you will every have a problem with "exploding" CO2 reactor. You should however have a one way value to prevent a siphon from your tank to the floor. I guessing this is really the "exploding" CO2 bottle... Da'fishboy "linda mar" wrote in message ... What could a siphon occur?

basicly the bottle builds up a pressure to defeat the water pressure... so
bubble if you will. After a burst of CO2 the bubble relaxes and reduction of pressure could create a siphon to the yeast reactor. I had this problem before I installed a 1 way valve into my reactors airline. "Frank Mamone" wrote in message ... What could a siphon occur? "Earl D Fitzgerald" wrote in message ... I have tryed the Nutrafin, the Red Sea one and JBL Vario. The best one is JBL because you change the bottle each time and after 45 days when the other one are after 25-30 days. I never have any trouble to start again the system because of this bottle exchange. I have built my own system with yest and sugar but it had injected too many CO2 and the reaction is finished after 1 week! I still use the JBL Bio CO2 (about £25) Bye |

CO2 Natural Plant System helps you achieve beautiful, thriving live aquatic plants and, ultimately, a healthy aquarium. When comparing systems with plant CO 2 against the differences are not very visible. The faster growth of plants for the injection of CO2, are lush, colorful, and grow faster. This system is designed to provide all aquarium safe, inexpensive and effective way to provide the most effective natural plant source of carbon. Employing a natural fermentation of CO2 are needed inconvenient pressurized cylinders. It allows reloads fast, easy and inexpensive ingredients to provide CO2 continuous time 3-4 weeks. Our special fermentation container has been developed to support the continued production of carbon dioxide.
