[IBC] Imported Specimens ( [IBC] Pure Gold in your magazine rack.... o...

That would be 'fair use' under copyright surely Richard: Unfortunately, permission would need to be acquired, not from the author, but from the Publisher. This can be a challenge at times depending upon the publisher's policies. Point taken about imported trees and the high cost/value to collectors. As is the case with all things, demand dictates price. Taken. But what dictates demand in the case of bonsai? Demand? In the case of bonsai, it is the desire to own the beauty of the creation or to acquire the material for creative expression. The next question is: what is beauty? );-) Cordially, Michael Persiano members.aol.com/iasnob ************************************************** ****************************** ++++Sponsored, in part, by John Quinn++++ ************************************************** ****************************** -- The IBC HOME PAGE & FAQ: http://www.internetbonsaiclub.org/ -- +++++ Questions? I'm not talking about seeking permission but forcing these into the public domain using the 'Fair Use' aspects of the Copyright law. If someone wants to send me a scan of an article that is still relevant but unavailable, I'll put it on my homepage and see what happens Yours provocatively, Richard ************************************************** ****************************** ++++Sponsored, in part, by John Quinn++++ ************************************************** ****************************** -- The IBC HOME PAGE & FAQ: http://www.internetbonsaiclub.org/ -- +++++ Questions? I was being provocative.
In all seriousness, I started this thread suggesting that back issues of BT were probably of little worth despite their high cost so I don't think I will be spending any time at all pleading for their re issue in digital form - except perhaps to suggest here that the publishers might issue them in PDF format as a curiosity for those who will never get a chance to see them. It seems to be the case that worthwhile information soon sets itself free from copyright restrictions and suchlike so I can't help thinking that anything worthwhile in there will have worked its way into the conventions and practices of modern bonsai as discussed and debated here and on the IBC site to which I know you are an important contributor. Thanks for your comments Michael.
