Hi everyone,
I'm experiencing a problem with my bougainvillea, and was hoping somebody
could help. As soon as I think I've found a plant that I can grow with no
problem, something happens...sheez!

The leaves (which were looking a healthy dark green when they burst forth
from their buds) have begun to turn a silvery color. At first I thought it
was a coating on the outside of the leaves, but it is definitely the leaves
themselves. Is this a case of run-of-the-mill chlorosis or something more
serious? If just chlorosis should I treat with Epsom or...? Not sure if
this is of any consequence, but about a week ago, I moved the plant outside
to a shady porch (that gets morning sun) to begin adapting it to outside
sun.

Another reason why patience is a virtue in this sport. It happens to

Silvery? Are the leaves changing texture? Limp? Crisp? Other?

Have you had any nights below freezing since you put it out?

MOST bougie problems (my experience) have to do with watering or
chlorosis, but chlorosis is yellow leaves with green veins, and use of a
acidy, balanced fertilizer will/should take care of it.

Disclaimer: I know nothing about bougies. But I do know silvery
leaves. You should check for mites and thrips, either of which can
cause a stipply, pointilistic silvering of leaves. Mites can be tapped
onto a white sheet of paper; thrips can be hard to find- they like to
hide in leaf folds and crevices. I can recognise either of them from
their frass, or excretia (sigh. Like I'm *bragging* about this).

Ozone, other air pollutants and pesticide damage can cause a silvering
of leaves, but I'm guessing that's not your problem.
