artichoke update
If any one remembers, or cares, I attempted to divide my robust artichoke
plant in December. I had numerous off-sets, but none had any roots attached. So I dipped the ends in rooting hormone and "planted" them. I feared my rootless plants were goners. Now, 5 months later 90% are growing well, and I suspect I'll harvest a 'choke or two from each one. I think if I were to divide again I would do it earlier, like right when the new growth starts in September or October. The other artichoke I didn't divide is much larger and I suspect I'll harvest sooner, and possibly more. -Tracy in Seattle |
