Default good to bury rusty implement under plant?

hallo,

moved into property and garden has lots of really rusty iron tools dotted all over the place.

am sure i read somewhere ages ago that planting rusty stuff under certain plants does them good. Is this true? and if so, which plants and how deep?

got you thinkin' innit?

thanks

These are a health hazard, you will be very unhappy one day when you
cut your hand or foot open on one, remove them. Puncture wounds in
the garden are a great way to get tetanus.

Some plants can get an iron deficiency quite easily depending on your
soil, eg citrus trees. The treatment is to add iron in a soluble or
semi-soluble form. Metallic iron will take too long to be absorbed as
it has to break down first. Unless your soil is iron deficient there
is no point adding iron anyway.
