Default my most sincere apologies

don't want sympathy for myself sugar. In the past eight years I have made
HUGE mistakes concerning sending posts to various people. I was unaware of
the magnatude of this thing when I first sent it out. Had I realized that it
was world wide, I wouldn't have even bothered. You can ask Victoria. When
she was seriously ill with her health, I thought it was a nice gesture to
send her some humor and non religious uplifting stuff. I was shot down
quickly because her husband didn't want me tying up their computer with such
stuff. It didn't hurt me as much as educate me. And that was almost 8 years
ago. I was given a few viruses that I wanted to let people know about in
the past and again, there were people that literally flamed me telling me to
take themselves off my "list". I'm not slating you, dear. There was a total
of twelve people who responded to me privately about my message to the
people in my address book. Had I not deleted the more vulgar and evil ones
I'd just post there here for you to see. You just asked me to remove you
from my list and I complied with no grousing, whinning or vieing for
sympathy. I'm a 50 year old woman and hope by now that I'm much more mature
and thick skinned to allow the power of someone over me, but there were five
people who tore me up and I didn't feel like I deserved it when all I was
doing was try to notify people of the situation I was myself in. I
appreciate you've forgiven me, but on the other hand, I was just apologizing
to you for not realizing you didn't appreciate a post with your address with
others. I sent it out carbon copy, but can't seem to find the blind carbon
copy ability. I don't need sympathy from my friends here on the newsgroup.
If you noticed, I posted in my message that I wasn't looking for people to
think I was leaving for good, looking for attention, if I wanted attention,
I know how to do it thank you. g

You shoulda seen some of the flame wars towards me when I first came on this
newsgroup. They were incredible. I learned the hard way about alot of
things. A particular person who called themselves Pricilla attacked me quite
effectively once and really riled me up. But I've even learned from the
negative stuff. All I MEANT was that I will NEVER tell people about another
problem concerning viruses, worms or mass mailings regarding my computer
because sometimes I just jump the gun. I've always jumped the gun.

It's kinda like I made sure I told people I wasn't leaving for good until I
got things cleaned up and under control, but the empathy and compassion and
care of some of the gardeners and friends out there still contacted me with
concerns that I was leaving. That's just love and friendship, not looking
for sympathy. I think you can see that I truely care about people and it
ALWAYS gets me in trouble.

My computer's life is getting back to more normal stuff now, and there are
some things in the back of my mind I was going to write about because I've
been inspired these past few days, but it'll hold for now.

That's all I feel that I should say about this, and in the words of Forest
Gump, "That's all I've got to say about that" g

The message
from "Louis Ohland using a throwaway address!"
contains these words:

Most likely, a harvester sucked up your address and some hacked site
or spammer or both are using it to misdirect people. It doesn't make you
a bad person, it just means someone else is using your address.

That isn't what happened in this case.

Marylin/madgardener decided it would be helpful to send an
email+attachment called "mass Microsoft fake email messages" to the
occupants of her addressbook, including myself.

To quote from her:

" I thought it was a good thing I had notified those
in my addy book about this thing"

"I'm over the others blaming me for my post, but it's
the absolute last time I let anyone know about a problem in the future."

M has apologised for sending her email and I accept that. Imho it's a
worse error of her judgement to publically slate its recipients, while
playing to the gallery for sympathy for herself.

Janet.

I don't understand your problem. I use Win XP Pro wirh Outlook and access
all the Newsgroups. Most ISPs support this. You set up Outlook with the
Newsserver address then go to ViewGoTo News to access and set up which
groups you want to subscribe to. My ISP is Atlantic.net but I have a friend
using BellSouth with no problem and the same setup as mine. Try again
before throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

do with my lack of being smart and savvy (thanks for that, though, I

didn't

deffinately) it has to do with not willing to return to Netscape
(BellSouth doesn't support Netscape communicator anymore, and they're my
internet provider. and for $9.60 a month, I can't beat it with a stick) I
will keep attempting to improve and one day will have the ISDN lines

they're
connecting to our house in three weeks and might have to change my

Sorry, gotta vent. Just came home after 5 days out of town on a
family emergency. I've spent all night trying to get through the
1000+ infected msgs. that came while I was gone.

I don't blame madgardener per se, but I have to ask:
How can anyone smart and savvy enough to manage usenet still be using
outlook x-press? It may not be a factor in the deluge we're going
through, but it certainly opens you attack by every bored teen and
antisocial geek in the world.

Get Eudora, get netscape, go do a google search to find some other
program, but don't mess with outlook--do us all a favor.

In article says...
For a look at the future for MS users, see:

What a fantastic read, thanks for the link!

It's hard to figure out why anyone still uses Microsoft servers for
anything critical but many companies still do. I think ebay still uses
all Microsoft servers.

Outlook is not a newsreader. When you set it up, it used Outlook Express to
access newsgroups.

Just for the record, I received the same message e-mail from Marilyn
(note correct spelling!), and had absolutely no problem with it. She
is one of the dear friends that I have met through contacts started
some time ago in this newsgroup and will remain so always.

Ditto, Geoff. It also had no attachment with it.

Isn't it a pity we cant all be as perfect as some people think they are.
But then most of us are only human and are bound to make mistakes at times.
Just remember that "The Meek shall inherit the earth" .......not those who
are smugly perfect.

Good assessment! I'm positive the only reason she sent out her mailing is
because she is a caring person who wanted to alert others to what was
happening to her. It certainly was no reason for her "friends?" to get their
shorts/bloomers into a knot and castigate her with slams and bombast. She's
much to good a person for that kind of garbage, particularly from
"friends?".
