Over the winter, we had an attack of Rabbits eating bark off our
blackberries. Will it kill them? Should we do something to help them recover? Ross |

Rabbits eating bark on berries
The message
from Ross contains these words: Over the winter, we had an attack of Rabbits eating bark off our blackberries. Will it kill them? Should we do something to help them recover? Well, if they are lying there whimpering and clutching their bellies and mouths, maybe sweating or vomiting, then it should be easy to load them onto little stretchers made out of cornflake packets, and take them to the vet. If the rabbits are still running around as fast as fit rabbits do and looking perky, you'll be needing some kind of restraints on the stretchers. Janet |

Wouldn't want to peeve the Easter Bunny, you know. Might end up finding some Easter eggs ... from last year. Ratings: 0 out of 23 people found this response useful. |

The rabbits have likely done in many of this year's fruiting canes. I had this happen to my raspberries one winter. (Wiped out the summer crop.) Lots of snow cover this year in many places = more rabbit damage to woody plants -- Pat in Plymouth MI ('someplace.net' is comcast) Any technology distinguishable from magic is insufficiently advanced. Ross blac berries are pretty much the tasty cousins of the other thorn bushes we consider weeds they are quite prolific and hardy they should come through alright in the winter you should wrap up to the point that you think the r rabbits can't reach on their hind leggs to keep them away in the future I've had the same happen to me and they came threw alright michelle |
