ID requested for another Solanaceae
Earlier I asked a question about a blue member of the Solanaceae that
came from packet of seeds of geographically unspecifed "flowers of the meadow". Now a white one has flowered: http://www.box.net/shared/static/5od5k5jf09.jpg It is characterized by a corolla that is 35 mm long (1.4") and which never opens more than is shown in the photo. Any suggestions about ID? |

Any suggestions about ID? It appears to be a _Datura_ species, probably _D. stramonium_ ["Jimsonweed"], trying to flower as a seedling. As with _Nicandra_, your previous plant, the adult plant is typically much larger [and also with considerably larger flowers in the case of _Datura_]. http://images.google.com/images?q=datura&gbv=1 http://www.missouriplants.com/Blueal...nium_page.html [there is also a form without the purple pigmentation of this one] It occurs to me that both of these large coarse annuals are likely to die from the first significant frost long before either can become large. Is the remainder of the warm growing season likely to be very long in your location? [If you're posting from the tropics or from the southern hemisphere, nevermind...] cheers |

I see what is presumably a cultivar advertised at http://www.mountainmeadowseeds.com/Perennials.html I'm posting from Downunder. |
