Default Tropical Hardwoods

In article , Jie-san
Laushi writes
Tree lore has it that in North America, the most rot-resistant wood is Black
Locust (Robinia pseudacacia) -- "It lasts two lifetimes"; softwoods Redwood and
"Cedar" are runners up.

In the UK oak (Quercus robur) in timber framed buildings lasts for
several centuries. I would have guessed that some of the American oaks
would behave similarly.
