I agree, I have cut holes and repaired them with that
wonderful double sided tape from Ken.

I forgot, I also patched a hole cut in a Rubbermaid stock
tank with a piece of permalon and that great double sided tape.

Thanks Ken. I am trying to make a decision this week. I have the final
measurements, and will need two liners...one for the reservoir, and one for
the VF. I am trying to decide between EPDM, Permalon and a third product
that I read about in another thread (can't remember the name right now). For
me the price will be the main factor. I can deal with the pain of moving a
million pounds of EPDM if it saves me some cash. Right now, I have not done
enough research for any of the products to be a front runner.

Care to try and sway me? Any info would be appreciated.

BV.

Permalon 70 lbs per 1000 sq ft
EPDM 450 lbs / 1000 sq ft

Permalon 5-6 x's stronger,

Permalon has 1 yr. unconditional guarr.
vs. EPDM 20 yr "manuf. defect" only warr.

Permalon is food grade, EPDM isnt unless its "pond guard".

Permalon is custom cut to any size up to 1 acre,
standard widths only w/ EPDM.

I've got to agree, the shipping and the actual placement of
the liner make Permalon the best choice. I put EDPM in the
first pond - it weighed a ton. The second pond I used
Permalon it was sooooo much easier to position in the hole,
when I added the veggie filter the next year I went with
Permalon once again.

Default Permalon Question

BV,

I would look into buying just one liner, big enough for both. Your pond
design does not have enough of a water fall to assure water will flow just
one way, and that means that the liner will have to be spliced to keep from
having a potential leak. Then there is sufficient change in elevation, then
the stream/waterfall liner can be overlapped over the pond liner and not
have a leak.

The VF and the reservoir pond are far enough apart (actually separate bodies
of water) that I will be plumbing the whole thing with 4 inch pipe. One
large liner wouldn't work for me. Water will only able to flow into the VF
via a 4 inch pipe. I plan to connect the output of the pump to 4 inch pipe
for outflow, so the water will only be able to drain from the VF into the
reservoir pond if the pump is shut off.

Would putting a fake owl on or near my pond keep away snakes?

Actually, fake owls do work, but you have to keep moving it around
every day. My parents have a fig tree and the snakes love them. The
"owl" keeps them away, but you have to be conscientious about moving
it.

Here in Louisiana we have everything from nutria to snakes to
cockroaches to alligators. We take a more relaxed view of wildlife
and try to get along (up to a point).

BTW: Depending on where you live, the snakes you see are probably
harmless and help keep the various vermin and bugs under control.
You may be trading one harmless (but scary) problem for a much more
unpleasant rodent one (EEK!).
