Default Outflow pipe

I plan on piping water from the reservoir to the VF using 4 inch pipe. What
about the return? If the pump only has a 2 inch output (for sake of
argument) does the size of the outflow pipe matter? Should I go with 4 inch
on the return and step down to whatever the pump is putting out?

I'm sure someone on here has a website regarding piping, but I wouldn't go
with anything less than 2". Having said that, look he

Go to the AKCA site, click on launch menu. Click on Koi Health Advisor,
when that page opens, click on Pond Construction, scroll down to page 42
for the charts. ~ jan

Larger than the output of the pump. It doesn't have to be real big,
cause as it has been pointed out that area increases as a square factor
of pipe radius, so usually one pipe size.

I have not picked my pump yet, and will probably do that last. Would it be
best for me to use 4 inch everywhere, since I am using it everywhere else
and then step the output of the pump up to there?
