Does anyone have a favorite product that actually works? I can't recall the
name of the last product I used but I know it was worthless and not cheap.
After the spring algae bloom there is often a mulm on the bottom of my ponds
that the filter isn't catching.

I use Bacta Pur, but any bacteria additive will speed up the decay on the
pond bottom - mine will be gone by Aug. You need to follow directions on the
container - it is not an overnight thing or a "quick fix" - mine is added
weekly

Thanks again. This year (we just cleaned and refilled the 2000g pond) we
dropped the pump to the bottom in hopes it picks up more mulm. There should
also be better circulation. Having less koi in there should also help. It
was getting to where the Tetra filter and settling tank-plant filter weren't
adequate anymore. Right now we have 12 young adult 12 to 18" koi in this
pond and no goldfish.

Keep Carol from usingf the pond as a swimming hole and you would not
have those problems of green water and excessive mulm buildup.
