Hi again to all REAL rec.ponders

(and to all the frustrated trolls who are reading this.)

Here's my update since Sunday night.

I spent much of Monday studying a half-dozen robo-moderation software
programs. I won't give out their names, or that of any other program
I may look over. (only co-moderaters will know, and will make the
final choice.) (This is to hinder/prevent hacking.)
I'm looking for 3 things: excellent, secure filtering, the
ability to forward passed posts on to human moderators, and ease of
filter modification.

Yesterday I was in contact with 3 persons from the Big-8. They
all have my personal info. I'm hoping to directly meet with one of
them later this week, or next week, so that they can meet me in
person and positively confirm my identity.

I was also in touch with some __real__ rec.ponders. We now
have 2 persons who will consider being co-moderators, depending on the
final details of what kind of work, and what load, will be needed.

We still need 2-3 more potential co-moderators to make this
thing a go. The last thing we need is burnout from any person having
to carry too much of the load

I'm taking today, and maybe tomorrow, off in order to take care
of personal matters and affairs.

It looks like this might take another 2 weeks before the RFD
request goes to Big-8.

So all you __real__ rec.ponders: please hang in there. Be
patient, and, if possible, spred the word to former ponders to
please check back in. We will need their presence and support.

Remember, we still need 2-3 more people to __consider__ becoming
co-moderators. No final commitments are needed until all the details
are worked out.

Next planned update should be Trursday or Friday. But I'll scan
this group every day for possible messages to me.

I can confirm that "George" has given verifiable personal information. He
gave a name, address and phone number that appear in online directories.
His name also appears in a professional directory which confirms the
profession he told us. I have phoned the number he gave and spoken to him.
He has posted under that name to rec.ponds. Even without meeting a Board
member in person, it is clear that "George" is who he claims to be.

He speaks with love and enthusiasm for his pond and appreciation for the
advice and support he has gotten here in the past. He seems motivated by a
wish that others with pond questions may benefit as he has.

Discussion on news.groups.proposals takes place after the RFD is submitted
to and accepted by the moderators at news.announce.newsgroups. There is no
reason to involve news.groups in the process unless one wishes to (which
one might if one were a masochist). Jayne
