Default Dragonflies

I have always had dragonflies to lay eggs in my pond.
But this year because of predators I had it netted.
I have seen a lot of dragonflies just hovering above the pond but the net's
holes are to small for them to get to the water. Do you think they will lay
eggs in the veggie filter?
I haven't seen them up there as of yet. I do love watching them and hate to
think they have no access to the pond anymore.

I think so if the filter isn't too full of plants so they can get to the
water's surface.
This might be a good time for a container pond!
(so far I've managed to keep myself to six...)

Yes. If they can reach the water they'll lay eggs. Every morning when I
check my skimmer I always have to rescue a couple of nymphs and put them in
the VG. - people are starting to look at me funny.

Well, Joe, don't talk to the nymphs while you're moving them. I've found
them very telepathic, and even open to sign lanuage. ;o)

Btw, I found a damsel fly nymph trying to works its way thru the egg sack
of tad pole eggs. I scared it off with my un-telepathic hand in the water,
signing, "Get the heck off my frog eggs!" ~ jan

I'm sure I don't know what you mean.

And stay away from me with that funny looking jacket.

My favorite damselfly incident.

I do a lot of netting out of the frog bog in the
summer and find all sorts of neat critters.

I had a damselfly nymph and a blood worm and water in one of my wedgewood white
china dishes (who'da known when I registered for that china what I would use it
for...)
Anyway the damselfly swims up the bloodworm and proceeds to eat it!
Since the damselfly was basically translucent I could see the bloodworm's
progess as it was chomped up by the damselfly. Pretty soon all the bloodworm
was inside the nymph.

(yes, my daughter thinks I'm crazy too... she especially doesn't like jars of
tadpoles on the kitchen table)

Hi Priss,
I have found dragonfly larva in my veggie filters and I'm
sure you'll have some in yours by the end of the summer.

There was a time when my daughter would have had the same
opinion as your daughter. Now, she would think it appropriate.
