Moss wanted !
Hi.
I have a grey moulded fibre glass pond. I hate the colour. How can i encourage moss to grow on the grey fibre to make it look natural ? Paint it with yoghurt ? Any ideas please ? Regards Jeff |

Moss wanted !
I've heard of this method for growing moss, though I haven't tried it
myself. Acquire an amount of moss, place in a blender, add a little buttermilk and grind it all up. Spread the mixture where you would like the moss to grow and keep it damp. It is said that the moss will propagate from there and flourish. If you try this, post back here later about your success. Paul "JEFF UK" wrote in message ... Hi. All you need is to reduce filter capacity, turn off UV light, and feed more. In
a few days, you'll get algae. My aquarium is full of algae on the glass, yet have clear water. JEFF UK wrote: Hi. I have a grey moulded fibre glass pond. I hate the colour. Above the water line the best effect I've gotten was from digging under the moss found on the forest floor and transplanting it to the edges of my pond. Letting just a bit hang into the water will keep a whole clump watered. Dig just enough to leave a thin layer of dirt under the moss. I used a paint stirring stick. Cybe R. Moss wanted !
Kidding aside, I would love to have some moss around my future pond. The hard
part is to maintain moisture so as not to dry out the moss. Let us know how it turn out. JEFF UK wrote: Cheers guys for the replies, Jeff |

Sean, we aren't talking about algae. We're talking about moss.
Difference. I don't think we want algae! Nedra http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Pines/4836 http://community.webshots.com/user/nedra118 "Sean Dinh" wrote in message ... Regards Jeff There's a question nobody has been asking: Below the water line, or high and dry? If below, then yes, algae will soon cover it, whether you want it or no. If above, then THAT is where you want moss. Moss may be hard to grow on a fibreglass surface. If it's rough and almost porous, like the un-glazed back of the shell, then painting it with a blender mix of yogurt and lichen should grow that. Moss, you can pick off rocks, but I don't know how you get it to adhere and spread... Dave |

I was kidding. I would rather have moss than algae. However, the algae on my
aquarium is nice. All the other people hate it. Nedra wrote: Sean, we aren't talking about algae. We're talking about moss. Difference. I don't think we want algae! |

Believe me, whether the OP knows it or not, he needs both moss /and/ algae, and in a big way! Cybe R. Wizard -- Unofficial "Wizard of Odds," A.H.P. Original PORG "Water Wizard," R.P.
