Default My water feature is cursed

I got a huge shock this am....last night I went to Wal-Mart and bought a bag
of lava rock to fill up my 20 gal basin, this morning I'm dismantling my
homemade lid....taking off the rocks....opening the bag of lava
rocks....getting set to pour and something catches my eye in the basin. Can
you guess what it was?

Now remember I made a 4x6 inch hole in the grill cover that was big enough
for my pump and hose and apparently..........something else.

I'll give you a hint, heeeeere kitty kitty kitty! Poor little guy.

I'm in the process of making my waterfall, small "mammal" proof. Good
grief! Hopefully the lava rock will put me over the top.

Ooops. Live kitty, or (gulp) drowned kitty? Before I screened my pond in,
the neighbors' cats used to come over, curl up and watch "Kitty TV" (all
those pretty fishies swimmin' in the water . . .) But they never tried to do
more than take a drink of fish-flavored water . . .

Drowned unfortunately....It was a little kitten that had been hanging around
recently, I'm guessing it fell in and couldn't pull itself out as there is
about 4-6 inches between water and grill. Sad. I've fixed this problem by
add a bunch of lava rock....quite a bit less water but it still seems to be
working quite well and my water is a bit cleaner now I'm sure.

Thank goodness that you found her/him. Could you imagine what it would have
been like in a few months?
