Default HomeMade Skimmer , water garden

Apparently , their isn't a commercial skimmer for my water garden. Need
Idea for homemade skimmer . I want to run it below the water level at
one end of the pond . Going to build a fake sewer for lack of better
description. The water pump will send it back to other end where the
waterfall , biofilter is located.

Wow, that's kind of hard to believe. How big is your pond?

I found something that will work . Its called the OASE BIOsys IP-200 .
It work out perfect for my plans. Now i find out how to make a bead
filter system for my two 55 gal. drums that are laying around. I think i
need in addition pump at 55 gal. drum end. Not sure if the pump i bought
two years ago is now the right pump. . From the link you gave me ,
its looks like a need a way to prevent plants from falling into the
skimmer.

Also consider how you will keep fish and frogs from going into the
skimmer. I hate my skimmer (it's a Savio) for all the frogs I killed
last year and now that my fish are in "heat" the females keep swimming
into it to escape the males. 2-3 times a day I need to remove fish
from the skimmer, what a drag, I wish I had never put the darn thing
in.

Hi Sue,
Thank You for posting. My Savio was delivered just last
week but the guy who was to install it said he doesn't do that
sort of installation.

So, I'm sitting here with a Savio Skimmer in the garage... and
am wondering how in heck I'm to prevent the same things
happening to my frogs and fish.

Anyone have any ideas on how to prevent 'live' ones from
going into the Skimmer?
