Help! The deer ate my homework...errr...roses
Anyone have any simple ideas (other than putting a fence around each rose?
Is there some kind of spray? I'm in Zone 9 (north of San Francisco) and we have deer, skunk, opossum, and raccoon that come out at night. I don't mind any of them coming around (except when I found a dead opossum at the bottom of the pool) ...it's just that the deer are getting to my blooms before I do. thanks elfa |

Maybe spraying with Neem Oil would accomplish the same thing. You can always buy coyote urine - that supposedly does the trick as well. If you live in a windy climate, you might try some noisy wind chimes. As a last resort, you might try putting a TV out there and playing tapes of Three's Company. |

Same site, different idea.
http://www.biconet.com/critter/ntd.html Here in NC, I use a little trick called Hair. When I go to the barbershp to get my ears lowered, I just ask the barber for a bag of hair. I just tie it into a bundle and hang it from the branches of my plants. Works good for my deer problem. And the haircut works wonders for my dear problem as well. My neighbor says she planted some kind of garlic to solve the problem but she said the garlic evenually 'took over' her rose garden. elfa |

I've had problems with deer and my roses for years (25 roses). I've looked
for solutions and found many ideas. Our deer are very tame - they don't run when you walk toward them, so human hairor soap was not going to work. I have had good luck with hot pepper spray, if used often enough. The best thing I have found was by accident. We had black spot on some of the leaves. I sprayed the roses with Ortho Rosepride and it cured the black spot. The deer also left all of the roses alone. I spray it on all of my roses and hostas weekly and after a rain and have not had a problem for 3 years. Good luck In article , elfa wrote: Anyone have any simple ideas (other than putting a fence around each rose? Is there some kind of spray? Home Depot, Lowe's, Sav-On's sells Rose Pride. Personally I love it! It
comes in aerosol spray or the liquied for the sprayer. "Gregory Harter" wrote in message news:eNSGa.201320$M01.91029@sccrnsc02... I use the liquid concentrate form. It goes into a sprayer that attaches to the hose. I purchased the sprayer from Earl May in the midwest. The sprayer is nice as the water and liquid don't mix, so you can leave the solution in the sprayer after you are finished. I see it in aerosol cans but is it sold in concentrate form for hand sprayes? elfa In article , elfa wrote: Anyone have any simple ideas (other than putting a fence around each rose?
