ws.arin.net shows the abuse handle as

The complaint from cineman will probably still be received - if not it
will bounce and cineman will know about it.

I have sent an abuse report to
and recommend that
everyone else follows suit. This will increase the chances of the
moron losing his/her access to the internet. Don't forget to include
full headers as, without these, the ISP is unlikely to take action.

Right now I'm too lazy to look for similar abuse, by this moron, in
other newsgroups but I'm sure if it is there RCN will be even more
likely to do something about it.

'This moron' is not using rcn.com, he is using an infected machine (a
zombie) on that network.
Once machines are infected by trojans, viruses and spyware, this is what
happens, they can be taken over and used for things like this, and very
often to send out millions of spam emails and phishing scams with no
possibility of getting caught...having said that, rcn *will* probably pull
the zombie machine until the user cleans it up, but the sporger will just
use a different one.

I have no issues with referring to someone who can't, or won't, use a
firewall, up to date anti virus software and anti-spyware software as a
moron. The more of these morons that are removed until they clean up
their acts the more difficult it will become for sporgers to find their
victims.

Ive just done that with several posts, but the message has been returned

I sent a report to about five hours ago. It hasn't been
returned (yet).

Heh! I went to their Website and posted the full contents of one such
posting.

http://www.rcn.com/contact/index.php

Select any of the email addresses on the right-hand pane and don't worry
if it goes to the wrong section.

If it doesn't go to the right team, and/or doesn't have full headers, it
will almost certainly be ignored.

But why should we have to waste time accessing the web site, when the
address is clearly printed on articles?

Perhaps you could post the correct email addresses!

Due to the non-inventiveness of most ISPs all you need to do is to take
the rcn.net and try putting www. in front of it. I think you'll find it
redirects to www.rcn.com!

Unless....you send ALL of them! ;-)

Then wave bye-bye to *your* internet access.

It's just recycling and recycling's good isn't it ?

It's just a matter of doing what they do and shift around to another ISP
in a matter of minutes.

Just keep plugging away. Eventually people will learn that going online
with a pc that isn't 'online-worthy' gets them into trouble. Hopefully,
for their sakes, they'll find out before they become id-theft victims.
Sooner or later the message will get through to enough people to render
newsgroup flooding of this type no longer worth the time and trouble.
Perhaps there'll even be a few convictions of people who do it (either
knowingly or unknowingly through unprotected pcs). Persistence, time and
patience are all that are needed.

It's a little like driving a car that isn't roadworthy. Eventually they
get caught even if they haven't caused a disaster (personal /or/
involving other people).
