O.K. click on [Tools] on the top menu. 2. Does that produce a drop down menu with [options] at the bottom? 3. If it does ,click on that. 4. That should bring up a realy big Dialogue Box with Tabs at the top. 5. Click on the [maintainance] Tab (should be) on the top right. 6. Then click on the [Clean Up Now] button. 7. You then get the chance to select the folder(s) you want to clean up. 8. Select [browse], browse around* and when you've found it, click on the urg newsgroup folder. (And any others if you wish) (*I don't know how easy it will be to find) 9. You then get the option to [reset] that folder - should be the bottom button. Click on that. 10. Click on that and then reload the group from tools menu at the top. michael adams .... |

I don't have the options you suggest, but I do have a "Reset Subscription" which seems (from the help file) to do the same thing. I will try it the next time we have a deluge. Sasha, according to an "expert", on a mac eudora group quote In the group list, select the group. (Click on it, so it is hilited) In the "News" menu, select "Mark Read". (or command-M) Then all messages are considered to have been read, so in the future you will see only newly-posted messages. -- G. A. Couldn't this mean you're not using that program for reading NewsGroups ? This mightn't be all that obvious, depending on how many windows you have open at once. But the fact that the NewsGroup settings are greyed out doesn't seem very satisfactory to me, at least. michael adams .... , Tools on the Web, Directory Services, Signatures, Schedules, Accounts -- Sacha www.hillhousenursery.co.uk South Devon ) |

I've had them all marked as "Read" for ages but their 'ghosts' are still there. Under 'View', I can select "View Unread Messages Only", which is what I have been doing. But that means you can't refer back through other posts in a thread if you've already read them.
