Red face cant identify a bulb?

I am relying on memory here and its gone at the best of times! I have a load of bulbs which I planted years ago and i cant even remember what colour they are. Pathetic I know but i think they are either blue or white! They are all green at the moment and have strap like leaves (like snowflaked which i thought they were) but there is a distinct smell of onion if i happen to tread on anything there. I may have to take a photo or wait until they appear as my memory is just so bad .If anyone has a suggestion as to what it may be I would be grateful but considering I cant remember the colour I am not hopeful!

God, if they are get them out quick, I put some alliums in the front bed
and they have gone berserk, all over the place and choking other bulbs,
even the tiny little bulbils flower and grow. I keep digging them out as
weedkiller didn't work and yet there are still more shoots coming up
............. and yes they do stink of onions.

Sounds like you got one of the rampageous sorts--wild garlic perhaps.
The larger ones are fairly well behaved and spectacular in a sort of "in
your face" manner.

Could also possibly be Ipheion which are allium related and have the
characteristic smell. They have strappy leaves which tend to lie rather
on the soil surface. Can spread a bit but on the other hand I'm having
trouble getting them established at all.

Janet thinks it may be A.cowanii which has not got the big strappy
leaves-perhaps she has a wonderful new hybrid:-)

No, got Ipehon, quite different and not so large actually. I'll send you
some of my spare Ipheons Janet when they die down later.
(Will manage to keep them 'wet' for the post!

I'll ask the friendly gardener who 'donated' them to me in the first
place. Janet
