Does your local allotment society have a shop for such things? A society
near me does, and they let us use the shop even though we're not members,
since our allotment is elsewhere. Also, in the last couple of years our
local budget shop has started selling seed potatoes.

tatoes. I have never ordered them on line - I like the whole day, from
the trip to the hunting of organic varieties and combine this with a

Dammit, I've just come back from there but didn't go into that part of the
store and I can't remember from last time. I *think* you can buy as much or
as little as you want. Do you want me to look on Monday? It's only 5
minutes or so from us, give or take backing up 6 times for other cars!

trial packs. No individual seeds but they do also do potato microplants
of some particularly unusual varieties; they come in packs of 5 but
they're expensive (£9.95 inc postage)

But I only need about six each, of three different varieties, although
bearing in mind the problems I'm having with slugs this year, I may, next

If you go to a garden centre etc that allow you to buy a bag for a
certain price, such as the one in berkhamstead high street, take a few
plastic bags, labelled and a marker pen. We put two or three seed
potatoes in each back, mark them and put them all into the one big brown
paper bag so we end up with several varieties.

I've been getting them for some years from a place near Chobham, but they
now have gone over to prepacked bags, but another centre a few miles away
have had, for a while, done them as you describe, and I had wondered about
trying them next year, the problem was the varieties they had, were not
those which I have been growing previously.

I will probably try something different in the future.

Thanks all for your suggestions, I have filed the info for future
reference. I do not want to leave it until it is too late to get a
choice. LaPuce, if the Whitchurch is the Whitchurch in Shropshire it is
near enough to visit, at the moment the web site seems inaccessible,
