In that case, so am I. And to the rest of those here, I'd like to tell you
that you will now have the newsgroup that you deserve because you have
failed to protect it and its targeted members from the lies and filth you
have allowed,

Well, having watched developments over the last 8 days, I have to
conclude that the newsgroup has reverted to a quiet, relatively
civilised, useful resource and the forecasts of doom have not
materialised now that the owners and the rest of the coven seem to
have moved out, hopefully permanently.

You may be feeling smug, but the rest of us have lost a good proportion

I don't do smug. I merely note objectively that this is a better,
calmer and more friendly place since it was vacated by the
self-serving and self-elected 'leaders'. They have no monopoly on
expertise in the subjects you mention and the slight hiatus you
deplore will be transient. The atmosphere will now surely be more
attractive to other, more congenial contributors, unencumbered by the
burden of elitism combined with the heavy load of shoulder-chips and
domination fixation.

Not stirring at all, just stating the fact.

Can you not see that the newsgroup has improved? No aggression? Sensible
questions and lots of answers by those interested in gardening, not 'point
scoring' and 'kissy kissy messages' which could, and should, have gone to
email?

Then you are blinkered. Don't come in here causing trouble again. Let the
gardeners ask questions on gardening and let those who have the answers
answer.

The newsgroup doesn't seem to be lacking advice :-)))

However it would seem to still be attracting trouble makers. Go and join a

But we did have a deal, a good deal similar to the one the Nazis had in
Germany in 1939 if you were not a Jew, where 'certain people should not be
allowed to breed' :-((

Follow-up

How wise of you to see at last the wisdom of the *silent plonk*.

To announce a "PLONK" is to legitimise and admit the existence of the
the plonkee.

In this instance, silence is golden.

Well done that Farmer.

Quiet it might be, but it's questionable it will ever be as useful a
resource without the expertise and knowledge of Sacha, Judith, David and
Janet.

In all my correspondence with them over 5 years, I never experienced
anything but courtesy, helpfulness and friendship.

The newsgroup is not 'better', having had to be depleted due to the
actions of the few who seemed to take a joy in personal defamation and
an aggressive stance against anyone who questioned their gardening
advice.

There are those of us who have been quiet throughout the past few months
over events leading up to this (rightly or wrongly!) but that doesn't
mean to say that we see the departure of keen gardeners as anything but
regrettable.

May I take it by your use of the word 'coven' that you are assuming that
the participants were women and that men would never defend themselves
against personal attack?
