Default Sycamore seeds

Hello everyone,

I've just got my hands on a few sycamore seeds, and I was wondering what the
best way of germinating and growing them was. I only have three seeds, and
don't want to waste them, as they come from a particular tree that I wanted
seeds from.

If they've been cold and wet all winter just put them just covered in a pot of moist compost outside and stand back
smartly before they hit you under the chin ;~)))
If they've been dry stored - sow as above, protect from mice - 6mm weldmesh is good and place at the bottom of a North
wall, expect germination next spring.

Default Sycamore seeds

It was a dark and stormy night, and as the people of uk.rec.gardening
huddled around the fire, jane told them this story:

The trees also are prone to aphids - the leaves are often totally
covered which means sticky goo all over the paths and no chance of
control. I also have half a garden that is bone dry all summer because
of the overhang. They also sucker.

We have a sycamore against our fence. We keep it cut to
about four feet high and two feet across. It gets covered
in black aphids. We use it as a sacrificial crop -- it
saves our vegetables from them! It's also great fun
watching the ants milk the aphids for honeydew.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I'm hoping they grow, as they're not exactly
