'Peter',

What consideration have you given to your neighbour's cats and dogs as
the device will surely disturb their pleasure.

I recently bought one of these (different make I think).
Next doors cats don't suffer at all, they just find it annoying (we watched
them investigating the first day we put it up), and now don't walk across
the garden or linger, but go elsewhere.
The dog in the garden opposite doesn't seem to notice it, I'm pretty sure
the noise has a fairly high drop off at 10 metres or so, so he doesn't hear
it

In fact, I need to move it as one bed is still being used as a litter tray,
but things are a _lot_ better, and no animals are being harmed.

I _thoroughly_ recommend them!

For you worriers of animals "pleasure" it's an annoyance, not harm, which is
more than I can say for the cat s**t in my garden and the risk of disease it
brings to me and mine against my will!

These devices are not nice for animals and should not be sold imo.

Cat shit is not nice for unsuspecting gardeners and should not be allowed
imo

Hold on just a minute. Have you checked that your dogs bark does not spill
out through your fence's' into neighbours gardens? Probably not!

Hang on a minute! I think that they'd be more concerned about their son who
plays his guitar with the Amp turned up and about the pub next door who
disregards their lack of live music and dancing licence!

Neither is dog shit! In my garden, on the pavements, in the gutter, in the
park etc.

The thing is Mike can give good advice, at times, which is why I have not
plonked him as yet!
But he will insist on going on about cats though, non stop!
I'd wish he'd give it a rest and talk about gardening!

They are trolling, Fenny. It's a usenet nuisance. Trolls are posters
who habitually fish for negative attention/ stir up an argument, as an
excuse for abuse and aggressive disruption of threads. Just ignore or
killfile them.

Janet.

He does talk about gardening, and rain water and Holm-oaks and green
houses and paving and, guess what? Cat shit because it happens ALL the
time.

As I said before WHEN, yes WHEN cat owners respect other's gardens and
do not just say 'We cannot control our vermin', then the cat problem
will go away. Until then I will join the others in the defence of OUR
right to enjoy OUR gardens just as Mabbett and Baraclough and Sacha have
a go at those who do not, like me, 'Claim to OWN the newsgroup'

Mike
That is, the original :-))

There has been considerable discussion on this NG regarding cats, and
keeping them off our gardens.
I purchased a device called "Ca****ch", an electronic device that
floods the immediate area in which it is placed with ultra sonic
sound. Cats find this intolerable and avoid the area in which it is
working. That at least is the theory.
My garden is small, fenced on three sides with the house on the other
4th side, and surrounded by cat owning households, including two cats
next door. The garden is approximately 5 metres by 6 metres and rises
up gently from the back of the house.
The device is placed on the conservatory window at the same level as
the higher part of the garden. It works off a mains supply via a
step-down transformer, but can be 9volt battery operated. The mains
lead is at least 10 metres long which gives you plenty of latitude as
to where it can be placed. The device seems to have no effect on the
bird life, but we turn it off when our dog is in the garden as she
seems to be upset by it. But then her presence in the garden by day
is enough to keep the cats out anyhow.
If you want to get further details of this item then contact :-

Tel: 01763 254300.
The cost was £46 plus £12 for adaptor and transformer ,delivery and
vat extra.
Since installing this cat scarer we have seen so cats, no sign of
cats, no disturbance in our flower beds, and best of all no cat turds
littering the area. It does seem to work well, and I recommend it to
anyone with a similar size of garden to me.
I hasten to add that I have no connection with this firm, other than
as a very satisfied user.

Hello

I have found that this system, although one of the best, unfortunately does
not work for 100% of its users. I believe it may have something to do with
the frequency it is set at. From what I have been told about ultra-sonic
devices they give the animal a splitting headache, so they move away from
the area.

BTW I work in a garden centre (which I love and hate!)
I am doing an rhs general exam in horticulture
Starting to do more things around the garden- I still live at home. I don't
really want to interfere with my parents garden.

(goes back and hides under the rock again)

Tom
