This is on topic!!!! :-) This is in my friend's Judy's garden who
lives 20 minutes
from me. Judy is a well known artist and also sculpts. The lavoire
was where women washed their clothes in the "old days". To show scale
I have stood on the mount, note the stones jutting out below my legs
where one climbed up, please excuse my bum! The mermaid is almost
finished, and I have posted a pic of that also, all with my friend's
permission, hope you enjoy them.

What an amazing thing.
I've seen loads of old public wash houses in France usually with a faintly Romanesque feel - columns, tiled roof, etc , but never one with an arch into a hillside on private land.

It's amazing isn't it!!! We have our own bakery in our courtyard
complete with huge circular brick oven (now used as the pool house).
I love old places and their treasures.

How the other half lives, eh, Mike?

Won't he let you in his wash-house, then?

Not _that_ other half, Tone! We used to have an old wash-house
in the corner of the garden of my son's flat. Complete with very
large "mediaeval type" flagstones... The wash-house went, to
make space for the garage for the motorbikes, but the flags are
still there...

I've got a mediæval-type thunderbox in the garden. Stores kindling ATM,
but may be restored to its full (not the bucket) glory sometime.

Clay lump construction, with a pantile roof. If it wasn't so four-square
I'd say it ought to be a listed building.

Not since he scrubbed his balls in the sink, golf that is.

"Golf"? My husband plays with oval-shaped balls, I'll have you know!

So do a lot of people...

The best golfer I know personally doesn't.
