I have a number of small ivys growing in areas that it is difficult
to deep dig.

What is the best herbicide I can brush on?

I wish I could agree. Ivy is a total pain and very good at winding itself around the bases of walls etc where it is virually impossible to dig out. I had problems with it in my last garden and have it again in this one. I feel a bout of chopping off followed by a Spring spraying of Roundup coming on.

No need, ivy is killed easily by just cutting it off below ground level.
Remove as much root as possible if you can but it won't come back from below
ground in my experience.

Read as plain text using Agent. None of that was visible.

Well, I didn't see any of it either - but it was still a HTML post. If
someone uses a reader that doesn't deal with it then they will see all
the HTML

I *COULD* do that, but I have 'show html source' flagged.

Very rarely, I might want to look at the pretty message...

Beat the foliage to bruise, cut it first, then add some washing-up liquid
to the herbicide.

But don't tell the EC police...

IMO my reader is superior to any other I have tried. The only deficiency
I it has ATM is seeing and translating some of the less-used character
formats. Howeer, this is in-hand.

In my experience, your best removing all foliage etc, then waiting for any regrowth to appear, spray with Glyphosate etc before the leaves gain there waxy covering, job done.
