The message
from Sacha contains these words:

It has been the most *awful* day here - howling gale and lashing rain all
day since about 11am. It's still going on now. We seem to get at least
one
of these as soon as the poor old rooks are completing their nests,
sometimes
after they've got chicks, too and heaven only knows what goes through
their
minds as they get hurled about the tree tops. Amazingly, we had some
hardy
customers in today - they really must be the dedicated gardening types!
I
hope others have had a rather more pleasant day and that his blows off,
out
to sea pdq!

Went out for a paper and a bag of spuds earlier, and the wind was light,
the sky was grey and patchy, with not quite enough blue to molish a pair
of sailor's pants.

Got showered on while returning.

I'm a bit further south, and possibly a bit further east then you Rusty.
That shower hit me while I was putting the windows in to our new allotment
shed!

It's been dry ever since, but the wind has risen a lot.

I ferar it's going to be persisting down tonight...

It certainly is here! The cat who thinks she's a cut above the rest
[Grandma was a Siamese donchtaknow] has been complaining about the rain and
it's blowing enough to rattle the cat flap.

All gone from here now - no rain, no wind. As for tomorrow, well, we'll
see, won't we?!

The message
from David in Normandy contains these words:

Its reached Normandy now, a gale is building up with rain. I don't want
it, so I'm asking it to go back to England.

Begone storm to whence you came!

No, I'm feeling generous, you can keep it.

Sorry, Jennifer - draw the curtains, light the fire!

If only I could do the latter - modern houses .....

When I was house-hunting I turned my back on anything without a proper
chimney innit.

So did we and after we bought the house we found out that the chimney didn't
work.

Give it a poke through - Father Christmas might be stuck up there.
haven't seen him about for years...

Wind got into the workshop and unmantled the Twinwall cover I had over
the more tender plants - it was square offcuts held together with gaffer
tape.

I just hope the wind abates, but we don't get a frost.
