I have 2 pots with lilies in next to each other.One pot is fine the other
however is having its leaves chewed. Ive found the culprit...it looks like a
red woodlice .I cant find it in any of my gardening books...does anyone know
what it might be and what I can do

Yes indeedy..that sure is the critter...thanks ever so much....I wonder
why only one pot has been attacked.
Don't worry, when they have eaten all those ones they will move over to the
others. Watch for the larvae they cover themselves in their own excreta and
look like bird droppings. However the fact that they are often under the
leaves is a giveaway as will be the destroyed foliage.

I've just found 1 beetle this year but the leaves have been well
chewed and I've had over 30 lots of grubs in black Sh....
This site gives a better understanding of all stages of the little

Spray them all asap in the hope you will save them. Next year spray them all
as a matter of course as soon as you see one insect.
Or IME give up trying to grow them.

What do you spray them with? I won't use generic insecticide, and as far as
I know, there isn't anything that specifically targets lily beetle.

Incidentally, I've never seen them hit the day lily (I don't know if day
lilies are actually botanically lilies or some other species, I've never got
round to investigating them as they've never given me any trouble so far)
