I have changed the first paragraph of the welcome message to read:

"Welcome to any newcomers to uk.rec.gardening! This group is
primarily available as a Usenet newsgroup but is also ported
over to some websites such as Garden Banter and Garden Alley.
On such websites you may not get access to posting unless you
register with them but if you have a newsreader you will have
full write and answer access without any kind of registration."
