It may be tempting fate to say it, but generally the Honda engine on my
grass cutter has been quite easy to start. The engine is a GCV160 5,5
hp. I bought it in 2006. Much better than the previous engine, which
was to bad that my neighbour seeing (or hearing) my frustration offered
to lend me his grass cutter.

What annoys be about Honda is that it is impossible to get a decent
engine manual.

Either way, to me it begs the question: do you actually need to mow it all? Are you using it for golf, or as a bowling green? If not, then mow enough that you will use, then let the rest grow wildflowers. Scythe or strim it once a year, and get a mower suited to the extents of the part you do want to keep short.

No, I just whirl the cable round and round very very fast. I got the
idea from using a strimmer.

Don't bet on it. If the hedge is solid enough to bear their
weight, that is exactly what you will see them do!

If you had ever had neighbours who owned goats (or sheep) you might
have. I've seen goats up trees (in Greece) and on a turf roof (in
Norway.

My farm neighbour's sheep prune our hawthorn hedge (tight and neat) as
far as they can reach when standing on their back legs.
