I am in the middle of installing a whole garden irrigation system.

I want to build a controller for this, but need some kind of moisture sensor
(digital if possible, to flag when the soil needs watering)

Any ideas on where I can either buy some, or plans on building them?

He can set his sprinklers/hoses/whatever to come on when these sensors reach
whatever point he likes.

I wasn't being combative, the Op asked for info on moisture sensors and I
gave it...I've since worked out that David doesn't know how a thread works
and it looked like he was replying to me, when in fact he wasn't (however
much he made it look that way when confronted!)

I like chilli too, but I planted some seeds from a bag of peppers from
Spain, they've got about 6 inch tall and infested with whitefly - I've moved
them out of the greenhouse but they aren't growing at all.

Just to clarify, I am looking for one make/model/schismatic of sensor, so I
can purchase/make several



I intend to install one, possibly two in the grass, one or more in one ore
more flower bed(s) and finally one or more to install in one or more pot(s)

I also ended in asking where I could buy some, or get plans to build them -

I agree, I did use the singular in the main question, but this was because
each single sensor will be monitoring one location, not several.



Please read posts properly before replying without attempting to answer the

He's actually a recognized professional in horticulture, and what he
says is worth reading.

You may not make minor mistakes, except in punctuation, but the rest
of us need to be allowed a little slack, even if it wastes half a
second now and then. As for bandwidth, well, it's not all that scarce
round our way; and even in your area I see there's enough spare for
you to use a bit on calling an honest man a troll.
