I grew shiitake several years ago. IIRC 50-60 deg F, moist atmosphere. I
grew them in the cellar but ads today reckon you can grow them 'in the
shade'

Oyster actually grows wild in the UK (though I've never found it) so
should in theory be easier.

I grew a whole load last year. Bought the polystyrene box kit, put the
contents into an electric propogator, made the polystyrene box into a cat
bed, and grew loads of mushrooms....

I found an ad for mushroom 'plugs', where you get a fresh-cut log, drill
holes in it of a certain size, plug in the supplied plugs, and put the log
outside in the summer somewhere moist and cool. Will try this methed this
year for a change.

Best,

- h
