Default [IBC] fukien observation

this is my first time training a fukien tea. I like these little trees...
very hardy (this one is anyway) and takes well to manipulation without any
leaf drop or anything. what i have noticed about them... is that it is hard
to predict and develop branches. they sprout foliage directly from hard
wood.. and do not push many shoots. and it is almost impossible to predict
where the shoots will be when they do sprout. does anyoone have any
advice..tips??
