Hibiscus blooms wilt
I have a small (my first) 2 ft. high pink Hibiscus on my deck this Summer.
It was going great until about 3 weeks ago, when I noticed that the blooms are wilted around the outside edge about 1/8 inch. I water it regularly, the pot has drainage, although, in NJ this Summer, it has been really hot. I was hoping it would improve when the weather turned cooler, but I still get this edge wilt going on. Any ideas what could be wrong? Rick |

They will all evenually wilt some and then die. in a week or so look for a pod growing out of the center of the wilted flower. It's fat and holds seeds for next years plants. Maybe they might last a tad longer if they are planted in dirt not a pot? I have only grown them in soil, never in a pot. Try starting the seeds next spring? We had a super cold winter several years ago in NJ and mine died totally and never came back. I switched to butterfly bushes. BetsyB |

The blooms only last a day, but recently they seem to start off with this
1/8" wilt along the outside edge. I repotted it yesterday, perhaps it was pot bound. I intend to take it inside over winter. -- -bye, Rich "BetsyB" wrote in message ... "Rick" wrote in message ... Are the leaves dark green and kind of shiny? If so it's might be tropical
and needs to come inside for the winter. "Rick" wrote in message ... The blooms only last a day, but recently they seem to start off with this 1/8" wilt along the outside edge. Rick If they are tropical ones, flower lasts only one day, sometimes 2-3 days if it is colder around 10 celsius degrees, in my humble experience, during spring and summer we get them out and later during winter in a house. Try yellow hibiscus with a double flower, maybe day or a half day longer it will last, but it needs partial shade, morning sun or so, while those with simple flower can stand a full sunlight, but also less flowers than when they are little protected from a sun. When you manage to obtain a good conditions for it it can give you flowers every day whole summer - personal experience. We have them a lot and we are facinated with them, cause they put so much effort in that one beautifull flower whivh lasts for a day. |

The wilting began mid-august, no cold nights.

This summer we had a lot of rain and temps about 22-35 celsius degrees and this doesn't happened, maybe here are no disease which atacks flower of hibiscus |

This plant loves 90-98 degree weather and blooms daily in my backyard. It
grows extremely well in full south Texas sun. I really doubt that it will appreciate cooler weather i NJ. My Hibiscus plants grow 6 feet high and spread just as wide. The one I like best is a varigated leaf plant that is grown I think only here. "Rick" wrote in message ... I have a small (my first) 2 ft. high pink Hibiscus on my deck this Summer.
