We eliminated the grubs and thought the moles moved on. But we can see
they are still leaving a trail on our lawn.

Yep!. . .Chewing gum;-) It was something I had heard. However, I
don't know if you're supposed to chew it first or not, before you drop
it into their holes.

i forget where i found this but maybe this might help some.
Mole-Chaser Tonic: Mix 1-1/2 tbsp. of hot sauce, 1 tbsp. of
dishwashing liquid, 1 tsp. of chili powder, and 1 qt. of water in a
bucket, and pour a little of the mix into each mole hole. The little guys
will get a taste they won't soon forget, and they'll move out right quick!

also if u have them right in your garden or flowerbeds then get some of those little windmill things that they sell at most dollar stores. moles hate the vibration from them. good luck, sockiescat.

Thanks. We have massive front lawn and they have addopted us. grrrr
Your chaser sounds pretty interesting.
Also read up on the gum therapy. Once they chew it they cannot swallow
the gum and choke; therefore they die.

Either way I am ready to use a stick of TNT for these darn moles.
A neighbor did mention, our Amish neighbor has a remedy. Perhaps I'll
seek him out if this does not work.
So If they don't sufficate them from the gum then I will pour a
lovely coctail into their home.

Such a vile little looking creature. They are natural engineers,
tunneling and making condos on the 1st and 3rd level of their home.
In the meantime, lawns across the world are being invaded ~ causing one
to trip and stumble.
There must be something to KILL these pests.
I did see an Amish man with a heavy roller. Their yards seem to void
of any moles.
Lush ground. But then they have acres to play.

This morning my husband informed me, when we lived at our other house
in New Jersey, we had a front yard destroyed by moles. Our neighbor
found the solution. He gassed them with propane.
Hubby as well found that same solution to be helpful.
We are going to try it this weekend. I have no pity on those ugly
little creatures.

Hi, Bette.

I'm from a bit further West in PA than you are, and don't know if the
infestation issues the area was having are as far as you, but...

It got bad here and none of the suggestions that many of these folks or
links offered worked. I don't think many of them really understood just how
many of these things there were... it wasn't like a dozen or two, LOL!

The local agents started with all of the PC suggestions but finally started
recommending we go to Tractor Supply Co (TSC) and get a product called Mole
Patrol and poison them. I understand that some folks are sensitive to that
concept, but there comes a point when an area is so over-run that you just
have to take drastic measures. One poster here even likened it to using
ricin, but one can't let it go on when it gets to the point it was getting
to here. When they reach infestation levels in an agricultural setting all
the little tricks used to for yuppie suburban lots just don't cut it.

Many folks here used this stuff and found it effective, although you have to
persist with it for a while. Use it when it is not to rain for a day give or
take a few hours as rain doesn't get along with it too well. Put it at the
holes you see and gently move a few spots of topsoil or lawn away from
tunnels and drop a few pellets in and gently replace the soil being careful
not to compact it on too much.

Mole Patrol comes with a spoon, but it's really not necessary to put that
large of doses out at once, eight or nine pellets at a time seem to be
plenty. From your IP you appear to be in an agricultural area and if you are
truly rural and not in a neighborhood there you may be SOL in the big
picture if the neighboring properties are not being aggressive, too (if, of
course, this infestation moved that far east). Small plans in the middle of
farmland are particularly vulnerable, but if you get neighbors who are
having trouble to join in some amount of control might happen.

Get to your TSC and get some before it sells out. It came into such demand
here last year that they couldn't keep it on the shelves. It's not the ideal
solution, but it's very effective at killing the little *******s.

They are little *******s and we are surrounded by Amish farms.

That's very funny, Betty! Unfortunately, I think the darned little
varmints are cute. If I've killed one outright, it was by accident and
I didn't know it!

I haven't been above pouring Clorox down their little holes however.
After reseeding the back lawn once and having it looking beautiful,
they completely tore it up while I was on a 4 day weekend away. .
..While the owner is away - the moles will play!

My dog managed to get ahold of one that I am sure surfaced after I had
poured the Clorox down his hole. When I saw him, I had a mellow heart.
You guessed it, I put gloves on threw him into a styrofoam cooler, and
drove him down to a wild-life area and turned him loose;-). . .By the
way, how long does it take a Mole to travel about a mile and a half. I
think I had him back in about 5 days;-)

Mostly, I like those little garden windmills, that while flapping their
sails, petals, or whatever, also vibrate the ground. It runs the
little varmints over to my neighbor's yard.

My neighbors don't exactly like that idea, but they are less humane
than I am, and will go in for the heavy artillery against the little
insurgents.

I tried one of those Gopher/Mole flare bomb doo-hickeys once. I almost
gassed myself to death!

I'd rather go through a root canal than deal with a Mole.

Aha. So that's why people have garden windmills. Just thought they
were decorative.
No wonder our neighbors have them ~ and we have the moles.
