Does anyone know where I can find some cheap waxed cardboard boxes for
growing seedlings in?

I need some that are about 6x6x1".

Although not as big, you might consider the bottom halves of 1/2 gallon
milk cartons. I've used them quite successfully.

Possibly, but I was looking for something I could just get a bunch of,
grow a few crops of sprouts for my birds, then toss.

I have some pet birds and found out they like young tender wheat grass
that's just been sprouted for about a week. They chow down on the stuff.

Processed chicken normally comes in a waxed box. These boxes don't normally
go to a box compactor. They are normally disposed of with processed food
and produce compaction. Because of dangers related to chicken type related
bacteria, its doubtful that a grocery store would give such a box to the
public. This despite the chicken itself is kept in hermitically sealed
plastic within such a box.

think that will be perfect for your use and they are very
inexpensive... I use them to grow wheat grass for my cats... they can

Less likely than in cardboard... most paper products are processed
with some heavy metals. It's pretty easy to test for lead, there are
markers that when applied change color.

for waxed cardboard boxes try and fruit and vege shop or a supermarket. Some
of their produce will be shipped in wax boxes & they'll likely be happy to
pass them over tp you.
