Default What kind of flower is this?

Sorry for the repost; I don't think the original made it off my
newsserver.

It's bright yellow, and has four petals. Each petal is shaped like a
heart. They've blossomed in abundance in the garden of my new home, a
garden which the previous owner kept in great shape. I've been amazed
all year by the flowers that are coming up...as each one fades a new one
emerges. I recognized Spring's lillies, but these yellow ones I've never
seen before.

I did a google image search and found a picture he

Thanks in advance.

You have the dreaded Marphistes Calendula. Certain parts of this plant
(pollen, seeds, etc.) are extremely toxic to mammals. Additionally, the
plant exudes an oily substance which causes an itchy rash when touched.
This plant should be destroyed wherever found.

Go to your nearest swimming pool supply store and purchase a gallon of
muriatic acid. Dilute it in one gallon of bleach and pour the resulting
mixture on any Marphistes Calendulas that you may see. You should see
results within 24 hours.

You know, Santo, there are neophytes out there who may not realize you are
kidding, or trolling, or whatever it is you think you are doing.

Already answered this question before.

Your plant is an "Evening Primrose", Oenother fruticosa. Its a widespread
and variable species native to the USA. You will find it in all the books on
hardy perennial plants.

If you were able to find it on a google serch, you must have seen it before.

Ignore the asshole calling himself "Santo Traficante IV", better known as
the dreaded Marphistes cocksucker. He is a sick demented internet troll that
uses a different name every time he posts in newsgroups and he is obsessed
with toxic chemicals, especially muriatic acid.

Are you a total idiot, Solo?

There is no such plant.

You should have recognized the troll from his previous postings mentioning
the words "Marphistes" and "muriatic acid".

He's a demented troll, SweetPepper.

He's posted the same derenged misinformation previously for another plant
but under a different name.

Nope. I just did an image search on "yellow flower" and scanned the
results until I got to one that looked right. Unfortunately, the web
site that had this photo did not list a name for the flower, and though I
did see a few images labeled "evening primrose" during my search, the
associated pictures always had more petals than the ones in my garden.

Thanks again for the ID. Now that I know what it is, tons of web sites
come up in a search.

Thanks. I've had some experience with trolls, and spotted telltale signs
in his post right away. And, of course, checking out the term
"Marphistes" closed the case.

Better luck next time, Santo.
