Tripod For Sprinkler?
I have a front lawn that is divided by a walk with 3 foot shrubs on each side
of the walk. I just got an oscillating sprinkler, and placing it in the middle of the walk doesn't get the water over the shrubs. I need to raise it up to clear the bushes. I have the Gardena Aquazoom. Are there tripods, or something made to raise this higher so I can water both sides of the lawn at once? |

How about an old camera tripod Will the shrubs support a board to set the springler on? Do you have an old stool? Concrete blocks stacked up Kevin |

I bought one at Home Depot a few years ago.and I recently saw one at Lowe's. Most are only 3-4 feet high. Mine can extend to about 6 feet but over 4 feet it gets a bit unstable at full supply pressure. It has a 1/2 inch IP fitting and you can mount one of those Rain Bird impulse type whirly-gig sprinklers on it and adjust it to cover an arc from about 15 deg to a full 360. Try googling with "tripod sprinkler" or "raintower" There is a photo of one at http://www.rittenhouse.ca/asp/product.asp?PG=546 Olin |

A short stack of milk crated can then lift it up to reach over low shrubs. I've even set the sprinkler (on its milk crate) on top of an old metal trash can (with a flat lid) to get it up even higher. You may have to carefully dress the hose -- even tie it to the stack -- to make the whole setup stable. -- Pat in Plymouth MI Any technology distinguishable from magic is insufficiently advanced. Once that side is wet, move it to the other hedge. You only need to water each side half as long, since the sweep only has to go half the distance. |

The water that would have been wasted in run-off into the storm sewer from the sidewalk would now be going on the lawn instead. And it would be cheaper in two ways: The extra water spent watering the sidewalk doesn't need to be bought, and a stand for the sprinkler wouldn't need to be bought. -- Warren H. ========== Disclaimer: My views reflect those of myself, and not my employer, my friends, nor (as she often tells me) my wife.
