Default My first meeting....

Hello everyone!

Last night, I joined the Montreal Orchid Association. That was my first
meeting. We were about 200 people! WOW!

My god, for the first time, I was able to see and talk with people as sick
as me. Growers, collectors, sellers, all kind of wonderful person were
gathering together among wonderful orchids.
They had a `house judgment` were you can bring your own plant and maybe get
a ribbon! I was amazed !!!!

I also took the opportunity to buy two new beauties:

1. Phal. Texas Red Buddha

2. Phal. Taisuco Lemon `Orchidexpert`* mericlone *

My collection is now at 9 plants, 7 Phals and 2 Paphs.

This morning, I repotted them in my semi-hydroponic pot with LECA ( thanks
Ray ! ) and they are now resting on my shelves under fluorescents light.
I`m so excited that I think it`s my 10 times that I go check them just in
case something has grown! :-)))

Bye

Now Wendy, could you be suggesting Claude will be buying Orchids?
*G*
Claude, I am glad to hear you had such a good time. That is what
Orchid Society meetings should make you feel like. They can and
should be festivals of celebration in honor of these plants we
all love. To often they get to be 'personality fights for
dominance.'

So how soon can you send us pictures on ABPO of the new plants?
I have forgotten, do you have a digital camera? Can you easily
post photos? But if you repotted, maybe your plants are not in
Bloom now. We will be interested when ever you can post photos.
I like the sound of the second one. and I am not a Phal.
person *g* (Well, I like them, they just refuse to grow for
me.)

Hello Susan!

I will soon get a digital camera and be able to post on ABPO.
I also have to solve a problem with my ISP. The ABPO newsgroup seems to be
always empty since a couple of month. Everytime I asked to get new messages,
I have the message group empty.

I`m working on it!

Bye

Well I think it's important to join clubs, it enhances your knowledge and
gets you socialising with people that have the same interests.

There are numerous benefits as you have found out already. Good on you for
going along.

The problem I have is that everyone else I know has about 3000 plants but I
only have about 100........:-(

Good for your Claude. I wish I had an association to join. A 3 hour
drive is over my limit for such things. Any way I go.... Montreal,
Ottawa, Syracuse, or Albany ... it comes down to a 3 hour drive. I guess
I'm in the middle of everything but in the middle of nowhere.

In 2002, I went to the spring show put on by "LES ORCHIDOPHILES DE
MONTRÉAL". By any chance, is your club the one called "Eastern Canada
Orchid Society"? I know they put on a show in October. I wouldn't mind
going to that one. Maybe this year.
