The buildup is due to minerals in you water. I use RO in my Jaybird Hydrofogger (the one that's
been replaced) and have no problems.

I'm thinking about replacing it with the fan thing this fall, so it might be available....

I've been to California twice in the past month. You guys have the best
weather out there. Can I send you some heat and humidity from the east
coast?

Gene, I have my misters on the pea gravel floor & so no plants get wet. I
have a swamp cooler as well as another fan.

No, they won't.

There are two types of filters that are commonly used on refrigerators. The
most common is a carbon filter which is used for taste and odor problems.
The other contains polyphosphate to help tie up minerals. However, neither
will remove the minerals. When the water evaporates, the impurities will be
left and give you the film.

I live in inland No. CA, which gets up to 100š+ and is very dry in Summer,
and has very hard water. For my 8 x 10 twinwall GH with gravel floor, I've
been very happy with a misting system from Charlie's Greenhouse. I plumbed it
UNDER the benches with 1/2" PVC and connected it to a humidistat, and it has
worked beautifully for over 3 years at 70% humidity, with no deposit on the
leaves and, much to my surprise, no clogging of the nozzles. I suggest you
check it out in Charlie's catalog; they're very easy to deal with.
