end of a garden hose. Misting over the pond area, under the sunscreen, here
in LA, on a really hot day, reduced the temp nicely. Made sitting there
with a brewski, watching the fish, quite comfortable.

Ditto. My son put them above my patio, and last summer I found I could be
quite comfortable reading out there, even though it was in the upper 80's.

The summer humidity here is such that something like that would probably
make us more uncomfortable. The small dish misters for indoors would be
fine for someone in a desert climate. Or for someone with excessively dry
air in their homes in winter. They sure are pretty to look at. :-)

I would imagine if you have minerals in your water they will settle out
around the mister. An alternative would be to use distilled water.

Someone asked about them in the group but I don't know much about
them. Isn't that essentually what a ultrasonic humidifier does? But
don't the put a white coating all over everything from the minerals
in the water? Do the tabletop misters work the same way?

I don't know that much about them either. I do believe they're ultrasonic.
If there are minerals in the water they will settle out around the mister.
I suppose you could place something under them to protect the surface you
set them on.

Expensive. I'm not sure what the solution is. Misters are
definitely cool though.

Maybe using reverse osmosis water filters to make the water?

That's not cheap either. If I ever do get a mister I'll set it on a pretty
plastic table cloth to protect the furniture. I saw some nice plastic
tablecloths at the Mall.

I like that product called LimeAway. CLR is also good for unclogging
mineral crusted things.

Vinegar would certainly do the job - we used to have to soak all sorts of
things in vinegar to remove calcification.
